Super Bowl XLVII In The Sunny South

Caye Caulker, Belize

It is quite the feeling waking up knowing that you’re going to watch Super Bowl 47 at a 223403_4399872476086_1252420506_nsports bar on the beach and it’s going to be 85561495_4399863995874_484263412_n degrees. Couldn’t be further away from the dsc00895-1frigid Canadian north than Caye Caulker, Belize. Game day on this great little island at Barrier561495_4399864075876_254293699_n Reef Sports Bar and Grill. I think its going to be one of those Caribbean days of having a few too 561495_4399864115877_1634162373_nmany in the sun since the Guitar Jam starts at 1 pm and I’m just getting up and its 11 am. I’m 2223403_4399872596089_607600655_n months into a life with no schedule and it can be a challenge living with no routine but I’ll 549173_4399901276806_835819773_nsurvive. Caye Caulker is a small limestone island 5 miles by 1 mile wide propped out in the Caribbean sea and the quick way around is by golf cart so I hitched a ride the short distance to the heart of the island. First stop some ceviche and a couple with 2 vodka orange included for $10 bucks then off to game. It’s not 2 pm yet and it’s bustling already. Full house, beachfront patio is filling and beer is $20 a bucket and seems to be the Super Bowl special of choice. Might as well blend in. The big game has Carolina Panthers and San Francisco 49er’s and the bar pool is filling up. I’m in foe $10 but never came close. Well the beer is flowing the crowd is getting rowdy and lights went in New Orleans! By games end the Panthers have won 34 – 31 and the night ends early as usual in Central America with a short walk home in the dark and wonder what’ll I do tomorrow.
