Spicy Beef Fried Rice

Forget about the Chinese takeout, try this easy homemade spicy beef fried rice which is easy and packed with flavor. Absolutely delicious but you can also use this recipe for a jump off point to add your own touches and favorites. Like peas, carrots, corn, beaten eggs, chicken or pork. It’s all good and cooking is experimenting. So grab that wok and let’s get frying.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb beef tenderloin, sliced thinly
  • 1 green pepper, grilled
  • 1 red pepper, grilled
  • 1 onion, grilled
  • 3 green onions, chopped
  • 1 1/2 tsp garlic paste
  • 1 1/2 tsp ginger paste
  • 2 tbsp hot chilli sauce
  • 1 tbsp bbq sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 cup baby bok choy, chopped
  • 1/4 cup sun-dried tomatoes, chopped
  • 4 cups white rice, cooked
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

Meat Marinade

  • Add thinly slice beef to a bowl
  • Add 1 tbsp olive oil, bbq sauce, soy sauce and half the chilli sauce to bowl
  • Mix well, cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hr or overnight is best

Grilled Vegetables

  • Cut onion in half
  • Cut peppers into quarters, remove seeds
  • Toss in a little oil with salt and pepper to taste
  • Place on grill and char
  • Remove from grill, remove skin from onion, cool and chop
  • Set aside

Put It All Together

  • Add 2 tbsp of oil to large wok over medium high heat
  • Add marinated beef, garlic and ginger paste
  • Stir quickly to brown, about 1 – 2 mins
  • Add green onions, sun dried tomatoes, grilled peppers and onion, stirring constantly, about 1 – 2 mins
  • Add the rice, bok choy and remaining hot chilli sauce, stirring constantly
  • Stir fry about 3 – 5 mins more
  • Remove from heat
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste

Serve with fresh egg rolls for a great take out dish made at home! Leftovers are just as good. You can adjust the seasoning, garlic, ginger and hot sauce to your desired taste and spicy level.
