“The Works” Pizza Lasagna

“The Works” Pizza Lasagna

Nova Scotia, Canada

Well if you like “The Works” pizza why not make into a lasagna? I do and it’s a great take on one of my  favorite Pizza’s. And if you’re really lucky you have access to Sam’s Pizza Sauce and Brother’s pepperoni and salami for a grand slam. This super easy recipe is flavorful, decadent, cheesy and awesome for a Saturday night supper. So dig out of your aprons and let’s make some lasagna!

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 5 slices bacon, diced
  • 1/2 lb pepperoni, sliced thin
  • 1/2 lb salami, sliced thin
  • 3 cups fresh mushrooms, sliced thin
  • 2 green pepper, diced
  • 3 cups fresh mozzarella, sliced or shredded
  • 2 cups fresh ricotta
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 32 oz jar of pizza sauce
  • Fresh or dried lasagna noodles, enough for 3 layers of noodles

  • Preheat oven to 350 F
  • Mix ricotta cheese and heavy cream together in a bowl
  • Season with salt and pepper, set aside
  • In a saute pan cook ground beef, mushrooms and green peppers
  • Add jar of pizza sauce to pan
  • Cook till reduced and slightly thickened
  • Remove to bowl and set aside
  • Add bacon to pan and saute slightly, don’t over cook
  • Ready to assemble
  • Spray a 9 x 9 deep wall lasagna pan with non-stick spray
  • Spread a small amount of pizza sauce mixture over bottom of pan
  • Add layer of lasagna noodles to cover bottom
  • Add 1/3 of pizza sauce mixture, spread evenly

  • Add 1/3 of ricotta cheese mixture, spread evenly
  • Layer 1/3 of pepperoni and salami
  • Layer 1/3 of mozzarella cheese
  • Repeat another layer of noodles, pizza sauce mixture, ricotta cheese mixture, pepperoni and salami and mozzarella cheese
  • Final layer has noodles, pizza sauce mixture, ricotta cheese mixture, pepperoni and salami top with remaining mozzarella cheese
  • Spread bacon over top
  • Loosely cover with aluminum foil and place in preheated oven
  • Bake for 60 mins
  • During final 20 mins remove foil and let cook till cheese is bubbly and golden brown
  • Keep close watch as not to burn cheese
  • Remove from oven and let stand for a least 10 mins to set

Serve with a great side salad and some crunchy fresh garlic bread for an incredible family treat. Freeze any remaining pizza sauce mixture for another day.
